Kapus set to get BC quota in education, employment soon, says Corporation chairman 

Kapu Corporation chairman Ch Ramanujaya has said that the government will extend backward classes reservation to Kapus in education and employment.

VIJAYAWADA: Kapu Corporation chairman Ch Ramanujaya has said that the government will extend backward classes (BCs) reservation to Kapus in education and employment without causing any damage to the interests of the BCs. It would be on the lines of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to media persons at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Friday, Ramanujaya claimed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been implementing several welfare schemes for the benefit of the community.

He said that the government is providing Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to each student from the Kapu community for pursuing higher education abroad and is also spending `70,000 to 90,000 for their travel and other expenses. Ramanujaya also wanted to know why former minister Mudragada Padmanabham organised Padayatra against the government.

During an interview organised for 220 students from the Kapu community, who had applied for studies abroad on Thursday, the students, as well as their parents, had lauded the government for extending them such benefits, he said and claimed that the Kapus are confident that the TDP government will strive for uplift of the community and extend reservations at the earliest.
