Eve-teasers: Mend ways or face action

VIJAYAWADA: The city’s police, in collaboration with Vasavya Mahila Mandali, held a counselling session for eve-teasers on Friday. Mahila Rakshak teams have nabbed as many as 71 eve-teasers from October 10 to November 2 during their inspections at Stella College, Pantakaluva Road, Benz Circle, Padmavati Ghat, PWD Grounds, Apsara Centre, Ajit Singnagar, Sarada College, and Satyanarayanapuram. At the counseling session, several youths confessed that they made lewd comments and stalked girls, but promised not to repeat it.

Among the 71 eve-teasers held, 21 were private employees and 50 students. They were told about the consequences of committing the offence in the future.
Former MP Chennupati Vidya said that it is an opportunity for eve-teasers to reform and learn how to move with the society. “If boys do not change, it is impossible for women to move freely. in a society. The attitude of men towards women should be changed,” she said.
