Cheated woman cop lodges complaint against ex-colleague

A woman constable, who previously worked in G Kondur police station, approached the same police station on Wednesday to lodge a complaint against a constable who duped her.

VIJAYAWADA: A woman constable, who previously worked in G Kondur police station, approached the same police station on Wednesday to lodge a complaint against a constable who duped her.
According to G Kondur sub-inspector (SI) D Rajesh, the accused police constable Padisa Gopi Krishna and the woman constable worked together from 2014 to 2016 in G Kondur police station where their friendship bloomed. Gopi promised to marry her and took around `3 lakh from the victim.

No sooner was she transferred to Government Railway Police (GRP) Vijayawada station than  misunderstandings started brewing between the two.  Taking advantage of the growing arguments, Gopi married another woman on November 24. “Gopi applied for casual leave for four days and extended it further citing health reasons. On November 24, he married a woman and didn’t even inform the police station,” said SI Rajesh.

When the victim found his marriage photo on Facebook, she confronted Gopi for cheating her. He tried to water down the situation by promising to marry her. “Gopi told the woman to be ready for marriage but did not turn up. After realising that she has been cheated again, she approached the police station and lodged a case against him,” said the SI. A case under sections 420, 417, 506 of IPC and Section 3 & 4 Dowry Prohibition Act has been registered against him and an arrest warrant has also been issued.
