Vijaywada teenager kills herself to escape stalker

The 16-year-old girl consumed pesticide after she was driven to desperation by a stalker, a senior at her college.

VIJAYAWADA: A 16-year-old intermediate student committed suicide in Andhra Pradesh, allegedly after being driven to desperation by a stalker, a senior student at her college.

K Venkata Kumari of Vissannapeta was a first-year intermediate student (CEC) at the Government Junior College at Tiruvuru in Krishna district.  She was allegedly being stalked by a senior student, Venkateswara Rao. She told her parents and teachers about it and the man was warned off, but he continued to harass her.

Police said the girl became depressed and consumed pesticide to take her own life. When she collapsed in the classroom, she was shifted to hospital. She died while undergoing treatment. Police have registered a case.
