Man ends life by jumping into Ryves canal in Vijayawada

Unable to bear the burden of medical expenses and depressed over family issues, a 56-year-old man committed suicide by jumping into the Ryves canal near Madhuranagar Pappula Mill on Tuesday evening.

VIJAYAWADA: Unable to bear the burden of medical expenses and depressed over family issues, a 56-year-old man committed suicide by jumping into the Ryves canal near Madhuranagar Pappula Mill on Tuesday evening.

Upon learning about the incident, Machavaram police reached the spot and fished out the body from the canal. According to Machavaram Circle Inspector Saherunnissa Begum, the deceased was identified as Katragadda Satyanarayana, a resident of Vambay Colony.

Satyanarayana had left his residence in the morning without informing his aged parents. He reached the bridge at Madhuranagar Pappula Mill and jumped into the canal. He left a suicide note, in which he claimed he was in depression for the past five years and suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure. “Passersby noticed Satyanarayana jumping into the canal. His wife left him five years ago and was survived by two sons and a daughter,” said Saherunissa.Police registered a case and handover the body to the family members after post-mortem.
