Tenders for HC complex to be floated soon

To facilitate faster relocation of the High Court, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is expected to float tenders for the construction of civil courts complex (CCC) in Amaravati.

VIJAYAWADA: To facilitate faster relocation of the High Court, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is expected to float tenders for the construction of civil courts complex (CCC) in Amaravati this week. The complex, to be used as interim HC, will be built in six-month time after the contractor for the project is identified, officials said.

Even though the five-membered committee of judges, constituted to identify suitable blocks to house the temporary High Court, had liked few old buildings it inspected, sources said that the committee and CRDA officials were in favour for a new complex altogether.“The buildings inspected by the committee fit the bill in terms of space requirement. But, a lot of structural changes are to be made in order to use them as courts. So, the government has decided to go ahead with building the Amaravati CCC, which is to be used as the interim High Court. We have readied the tenders and will release the notification in a day or two,” a top ranking CRDA official told TNIE.

The G+2 civil courts complex will be built with an estimated `108 crore in a four-acre land earmarked at Justice City near Nelapadu. The new structure will be ready by late October. Meanwhile, CRDA has expedited the process of executing construction of the 96-km-long Inner Ring Road (IRR) proposed in Amaravati. Officials said that the draft alignment of the project, to be integrated with the 27 capital city roads, was released last week. “Those who have suggestions to make or objections to raise, they can do so within 30 days,” the official said.

The first phase of the IRR construction will begin later this year. It will connects NH 65 at Ketanakonda and a proposed bypass near Nunna. The second phase of 28-km will be passing though the Kondapalli Reserve Forest area.

“About 204 acres of land in the Kondapalli Reserve Forest will be required for IRR. A nine km stretch of the project will pass through the forest. Since the stretch falls under no-plan zone, its zonal modification plan will require some modifications,” CRDA explained.
