Naga sadhus visit Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam

For the first time, around 15 Naga sadhus from Haridwar offered special prayers at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam (SDMS), Indrakeeladri on Saturday.

VIJAYAWADA: For the first time, around 15 Naga sadhus from Haridwar offered special prayers at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam (SDMS), Indrakeeladri on Saturday.The Naga sadhus are in the city to participate in a special ritual to be conducted at the Kotilingala Kshetram, Vemavaram Village in Guntur district on Sunday.

Upon receiving information about their visit, temple trust board committee chairman Y Gowranga Babu made special arrangements for the darshan of the presiding deity Goddess Kanaka Durga.The Naga sadhus cleansed the temple premises with holy water brought from river Ganga and other rivers. Devotees in large number followed the Naga sadhus and sought their blessings.

Earlier, the temple’s Executive Officer M Padma participated in the special rituals conducted by the temple vedic committee to mark the reopening of Lord Malleswara Swamy temple on the Indrakeeladri.
The devotees will be allowed to have darshan in the temple from February 26, said temple authorities.
