VIJAYAWADA:Scores of devotees made a beeline for darshan at the Lord Malleswara Swamy temple, which reopened on Monday after special rituals were conducted by the vedic committee of Goddess Kanaka Durga temple.
The temple was closed a year ago for renovation purposes. The old temple was demolished and a new one was built with rock structures. To mark the reopening ceremony, priests performed ‘karanyasa’ on February 24 with ‘santhi patham’, ‘rithvik pathanam’ and ‘vastu puja’ followed by ‘matapa deva homam’, ‘pachamrutadivasams’ and other offerings on February 25. On Monday, the priests conducted ‘kalyana mahotsavam’ to the processional deities of Lord Malleswara Swamy and his consort Goddess Kanaka Durga’ after completion of ‘ganapati homam’, ‘punyahavachanam’, ‘adivasadhi homam’ and others. Temple executive officer M Padma, along with trust board committee chairman Y Gowranga Babu and other members, took part in the reopening ceremony.
