Severe heatwave conditions continued to prevail over coastal Andhra  Pradesh. On Tuesday, dry weather prevailed over some parts in Srikakulam and East Godavari districts.

VIJAYAWADA: Severe heatwave conditions continued to prevail over coastal Andhra  Pradesh. On Tuesday, dry weather prevailed over some parts in Srikakulam and East Godavari districts. Many parts of the districts recorded above normal temperatures to 40 degree  Celsius.

Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam district recorded 41.5 degrees Celsius, the day’s highest temperature. Kavali, Masulipatnam, Nellore, Ongole, Jangamaheswarapuram, Tuni, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bapatla, Tirupati and Kakinada recorded between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius.  The high temperatures are very likely to prevail over some parts  in all the districts of coastal AP for another two days. The IMD warns of  maximum temperatures likely to be around 40 to 42 degree Celsius which is three to four degrees above normal over some parts of the coastal AP.

The upper air cyclonic circulation now lies over west central Bay of Bengal  and adjoining coastal AP between 5.8 and 7.6 km above mean sea level. Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of coastal AP and  Rayalaseema in the next 48 hours.
