VIJAYAWADA: Challa Nagamani (29), a woman constable attached to One Town - Central Crime Station, was found dead under suspicious circumstances, at her house in Krishna Lanka here on Monday.
Her neighbours found her body hanging from the ceiling of her room. According to sources, a family dispute may have driven her to take the extreme step - committing suicide. Police sources said that Nagamani was married to Nagaraj (35), an employee in a private transport company, six years ago. The couple has two children.

According to Krishna Lanka Inspector Chandrasekhar, she joined service in 2010 and worked in various police stations, before being posted to the One Town CCS, recently. Nagamani was alone in the house when she ‘committed suicide’. According to sources, her neighbours reportedly got suspicious and knocked on Nagamani’s door, which was locked from inside. Receiving no response, they broke the door open and found Nagamani hanging from the ceiling of her room.

They immediately rushed her to the government hospital in Vijayawada, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Her parents, who lived with her in her Krishna Lanka home had gone to Nandigama on a personal work on Sunday night. After sending her children to school on Monday morning, she locked her house from inside and committed suicide. Her husband Nagaraju works in a private lorry transport company.
