Jagan Mohan Reddy attack: YSRC seeks Governor’s intervention for fair probe

Jagan found fault with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his disparaging remarks and said it was a brazen attempt to subvert the investigation by stating that the attack was planned.

VIJAYAWADA: A delegation of YSRC party leaders met Governor ESL Narasimhan and requested him for an investigation into the matter with an independent agency. On the occasion, they submitted a letter from the party chief to the Governor.

In the letter, Jagan Mohan Reddy, describing the investigation into the attack on him at the Visakhapatnam airport unfair and motivated, requested for the immediate intervention of the Governor in the matter.
Explaining what happened at the airport on October 25, he said, “I was conscious of the fact that the news about the attack on me had the potential to provoke serious disturbances in the State. Therefore, mindful of the urgent need to provide comfort to the people of the State regarding my safety, I changed my blood-soaked shirt and, with minimum first aid dressing, boarded the 1.05 p.m. flight to Hyderabad.”

He reiterated that the investigation initiated by the State government into the attack on him was undertaken in a ‘predetermined’ and ‘deficient’ manner. “The investigation agency has purportedly arrived at a premature conclusion and has sought to portray the incident as an internal ploy of the YSR Congress, headed by him,” the letter said.

Jagan found fault with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his disparaging remarks and said it was a brazen attempt to subvert the investigation by stating that the attack was planned and executed by the YSRC party with a diabolic design. The attack was on the lines of the predictions made by a TDP sympathizer, who came up with the ‘Operation Garuda’ theory.  It only strengthened the suspicion that the attack was part of the conspiracy to eliminate him, the letter maintained.

Later, speaking to mediapersons, YSRC party leaders Dharmana Prasada Rao, RK Roja and others said since the investigation was not going in a proper manner and the conspiracy angle was not being considered by the State investigation agencies, it’s imperative that the case be handed over to an agency, not under the control of the State government.
