CID likely to ask for affidavits on properties owned by AgriGold Group
VIJAYAWADA: With one Alluri Venkateswara Rao filing a petition in the Hyderabad High Court claiming that he had bought 8 acres of land in Haailand property in 2014 and paid Rs 5 crore towards sale consideration, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) is likely to ask for affidavits on all the properties owned by the AgriGold Group across the State.
The move is intended to avoid uncertainty over the ownership of the group’s properties and speed up the auction process.The decision was reportedly taken in a meeting recently conducted after the High Court pulled up the CID for its failure to verify the ownership of Haailand during investigation. Following the directives of the High Court, CID officials had arrested Venkateswara Rao on Wednesday for filing a false affidavit claiming ownership.
“During the investigation, the management claimed the property belonged to AgriGold Group. However, they took a U-turn later. To avoid further trouble, we are going to ask for affidavits on all the properties as this will speed up the auctioning process,” a senior CID official said on the condition of anonymity.
On Friday, the company management told the High Court bench that the said land was one of those owned by the AgriGold Group.
Meanwhile, representatives of the AgriGold Customers’ and Agents’ Welfare Association (AGCAWA) are mounting pressure on the government to settle the issue as early as possible.“The AgriGold management is trying to disturb the investigation by prolonging the auctions and creating disruptions such as this.
Depositors are losing hope and committing suicides as a last resort. The State government should intervene and render justice to the depositors,” honorary president of the AGCAWA, Muppalla Nageswara Rao, said.
