Dalits plan march to parliament on December 20

Dr Ram Chandra Dome, National General Secretary, DSMM, said, “We have seen people who marry inter-caste getting murdered.

VIJAYAWADA: Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch (DSMM), an organisation that works for the rights of Dalits, told TNIE during a press conference held to discuss the draft of bill for ‘preventing caste-based crimes’ about its plans to take out a 5,000-strong march to the parliament in Delhi on December 20.

Dr Ram Chandra Dome, National General Secretary, DSMM, said, “We have seen people who marry inter-caste getting murdered. This is because the SC has diluted the law on prevention of atrocities against SCs and STs.”

The 27 lawyers working for DSMM across the country are in the process of putting together a draft bill on ‘The Prevention of Crimes in the Name of Caste and Tradition (Prevention and Protection) Bill 2018’.
