VIJAYAWADA:  The generosity and time-bound action of a chief ticket inspector and other officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) saved the life of a two-month-old boy during a train journey recently.
In a press release issued here on Saturday, South Central Railway officials said that a person named Sagar Kanjilal and his wife Banashree and their ailing two-month-old boy were travelling in an air-conditioned coach of Yesvantpur-Howrah Duronto Express (12246) on June 5 night.

The child was on oxygen support.
By the time the train was about to reach Tenali (a non-stopping station), the parents found that the last oxygen cylinder of the two which they were carrying would exhaust before they reach the Vijayawada Railway Station.

They informed Mihir Kumar, the on-board TTE, and requested him for help.
Immediately, the TTE alerted PVS Jagga Rao, chief ticket inspector in Vijayawada, about the situation.
The chief ticket inspector moved things quickly at the control office. After his continuous monitoring, the train reached Vijayawada station within half an hour.
By the time the train reached Vijayawada, the railway authorities kept oxygen cylinders ready, thus saved the life of the ailing boy.
