VIJAYAWADA: With the works of the Seed Access Road taking place briskly, the Amaravati Development Corporation Ltd (ADCL) has begun planting saplings along its length. The corporation has already finished planting of Cassia fistula trees in a two-km stretch near Mandadam and is in the process of planting saplings along other stretches of the Seed Access Road.
According to ADCL officials, the tree cover will get a shape by the end of May. The ADCL has plans to plant more than 7,000 trees on either side of the 21-km-long Seed Access Road.
“The Cassia fistula will grow as high as 10 feet and once grown, it will look appealing with bunches of yellow flowers on it. We have already finished the plantations along few stretches. We will plant more saplings along the remaining length as and when the road works conclude,” an official said in a press release issued on Wednesday. The official also said that buffer zones, with green cover, had already been developed at regular intervals along the Seed Access Road. Meanwhile, CRDA commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar inspected the land registration centres in Navuluru and Venkatapalem villages.
He interacted with the farmers and asked them how the registration process of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) returnable plots was going. The director of CRDA (lands) BL Chennakesava Rao, in-charge sub-registrar of Navuluru Veerabhadra Rao and Venkatapalem sub-registrar Kishore were also present on the occasion.
Demolition continues
Continuing with the demolition of illegal structures, CRDA officials, on Wednesday, razed a building at Yanamalakuduru in Vijayawada as it did not have requisite permissions. The director of Development Promotion of the CRDA, K Naga Sundari, said that three unauthorised structures in Amaravathi, Dharanikota and Pedda Madduru were also demolished. She appealed to the public to seek necessary approvals before proceeding with construction works. She said notices would be served to the owners of the properties, who take up development works without proper permissions, before the razing of those buildings.
