VIJAYAWADA: Tamil Nadu High Court advocate Nirmala Rani spoke about the need for a law against caste-based killing. She was addressing a gathering at a national seminar on ‘implementation of laws for social justice’, held by Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch on Saturday.
Nirmala Rani gave a power point presentation on the increasing atrocities against Dalits across the country that include mob lynching. With inter-caste marriages on the rise, the State governments’ responsibility to provide protection to the couples has also increased, she said.
DSMM’s chief director Dr Ramachandra Dom alleged that caste-based atrocities and mob lynchings have seen a raise since the BJP-led NDA government came to power. “Since then all minorities have been marginalised and are facing a crisis ,” he said.
DSMM’s Andhra Pradesh secretary V Srinivas directed the discussion along the with lawyers from across the country.
