Stage-V of Vijayawada Thermal Power Station by 2020

 In view of the rising energy demands in the near future, the State government has scheduled to complete various projects under execution at the earliest.

VIJAYAWADA:  In view of the rising energy demands in the near future, the State government has scheduled to complete various projects under execution at the earliest. Managing Director (MD) of APGENCO B Sreedhar, informed Energy minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy that the schedule for commissioning the projects in the next two-three years was prepared.

In a review meeting on Friday, the minister took stock of the initiatives being rolled out by the State government. On the occasion, the MD of APGENCO said that Vijayawada Thermal Power Station Stage-V (800 MW) and Sri Dhamodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station, Krishnapatnam, (800 mw) would be ready within the next one year.

Even as the matter with regard to Polavaram Hydel power plant is in High Court, the officials informed that the 960 MW project is expected to be ready by 2021-22. Similarly, pumped storage project at upper Sileru (9X150MW) is expected to be commissioned by 2024-25 and extension of Lower Sileru (2X115 MW) by 2022-23. The Solar Wind hybrid Ramagiri project (10 MW) is under investigation, the official explained.

Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, speaking on the occasion, said the State government was giving utmost priority for the implementation of nine-hour free power supply during the daytime to the agriculture sector. 
He directed the officials concerned to speed up the erection of remaining feeders so that they are ready by March 2020.
