Suhina Cherott Aims to Set an Example for thers

Suhina Cherott who bagged the best achiever award from NCERT for her fabulous victory in the last academic year’s public exam conducted by the State Vocational Higher secondary Board is determined to change this public notion on vocational schooling. Scoring 94 per cent marks in the public examination with A+ grades in all papers, Cherott, has become the topper among the five students who scored full A+ grades in the state in the examination. She studied at Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Nadakkavu, at Kozhikode.

Cherott, an average scorer till  Class X, is on cloud nine having secured the top grades in all subjects. “At Nadakkavu Government Higher Secondary School, teachers were highly supportive. I owe my success to them as well. Portions were completed much before the stipulated time and therefore we had enough time to revise,” says Cherott. She further adds that the school’s positive attitude towards vocational studies also helped to a great extent. “As part of the PRISM project, an initiative to impart high end facilities at the school, the classrooms of Vocational Higher Secondary Department was the first to get equipped with smart devices,” Cherott adds. She also credits her parents for having played a crucial role in her achievement.

Talking about her future plans,  Cherott does not want to travel the beaten path and chose to do a bachelor’s in cardeo-vascular technology at Medical College, Kozhikode. “I got to know of the course through my teachers. I decided to pursue the course as it was something new and the demand for the course seemed high. Since my parents were a bit skeptical about my choice of study, it took some time to convince them. My professors have also encouraged me and said that more cardeo-vascular technicians are the need of the hour,” informs Cherott.
