Sometimes, our attachment with our belongings tends to become a little eerie. For Shruthi BV, a final-year BA psychology student at Surana College, Bangalore, her sense of belonging with her Honda Activa is inexplicable. “I feel I can talk to it,” says Shruthi, who has been using her Activa for one-and-a-half years. “It’s been a very good companion on whom I can rely at all times,” she says. The psychology student is a self-confessed car-lover, who enjoys riding motorbikes. For now, however, her Activa is good enough for her daily needs. “College is just 4kms from my home. I end up travelling around 10 kms a day.” Her affinity with her moped is so much that she managed to get it started despite having many problems — something she describes is “due to some strange connection. It was a month since I had not used my moped. The battery had completely gone for a toss, and the starter was not good as well. Finally, I could get it started.”
