Work has been a lifelong learning process

Managing work and studies has been a life time experience for this final-year MBA student. Hailing from Lucknow and pursuing his MBA from the Vanguard Business School, Bangalore, Syed Basharath Akthar, says “Not having a penny in your pocket can teach one a million things about life.”

Forced by a sudden financial crunch on the home front, Syed took up the job of a sales executive with Aircel telecommunications. “The challenges of managing work and studies had taught me lessons on how to deal with people and has enriched my communication skills in a professional manner. The money earned as an executive was more than enough for me to handle my expenses here in the city,” points out Syed.

He also believes that the extensive support from the college management and the motivation from his new friends at the business school, helped him.

“Work taught me to never take a ‘no’ for an answer and has moulded me into a thorough professional” says Syed.

Being in the fourth semester of his MBA programme, Syed has secured a first division across all semesters and has recently secured a job offer from Chola Mandalam Group. Syed signs off saying that the job has equipped him with valuable life lessons while helping him enormously on the financial front.
