Self Acceptance for Harmony

If you constantly feel like you can’t do enough, maybe you are doing enough. Learn to strike a balance in life
Self Acceptance for Harmony

I’m a BTech graduate and am continuously in search of different ways to improve myself. I read a lot of self-help books, never feeling content about myself. I frequently feel overwhelmed with the tasks I keep adding to my to-do list, unable to act on it. Could you please tell me how to overcome this? Even now, I feel less confident about the grammar I’ve used in this mail to you.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

I understand the struggle you go through in aiming for perfection in whatever you do. Your sentence, “I frequently feel overwhelmed with the tasks” has more emphasis on doing a task than enjoying the work you do. Hence, I invite you to think how you can add ways to relax between work.

For example, taking time to play, listen to music or for any activity which you enjoy will give you a break from monotony. You can include a flavour of joy to your work and feel refreshed. When you complete a task from your things to-do list take time to celebrate your accomplishment and this will add confidence to you.

Another key word from your question is, “I keep adding on to my to-do list, unable to act on it”. When you make your things to do list, it’s good to set realistic time frames for the work you intend to do. I would even suggest that once you make a list for the day, stop adding any further activities to it. If you have completed all the work and have time left, use that to relax. This will stop you from feeling overwhelmed.

Your words “I feel less confident about the grammar I’ve used” indicates the critic in you. Take time to listen to your inner critical voice and use that critical message to set standards for work and don’t use it to put yourself down. I appreciate all your efforts for self-development, at the same time remember to focus on self acceptance also. You will then have a balanced life. Using this affirmation will also help in developing self acceptance, “I am good as I am, I deserve to enjoy my life, I trust the process of life and I am guided to do the right thing in the right time. All is well in me.”
