45 Engg Colleges to Shut Shop

Dozens of engineering colleges in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are shutting down this academic year due to lack of enough students. While last year about 30 colleges from undivided Andhra Pradesh had sought permission to close down, the figure is expected to reach 45 in both the States this year. One college from Telangana and nine from Andhra Pradesh have failed to get even a single student this year, while another 40 colleges from AP found very few takers. As many as 174 engineering colleges could not hold admissions at all in Telangana, as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University denied them affiliation due to poor infrastructure.
