HRD Academy, Gurgaon, trains students in HR at no cost and places them in companies
Free Training, Sure Placement

Amit Khurana, the former Executive VP-Human Resources, at Yes Bank, with over 18 years of cross functional experience in Human Resources, Business Development, Project Management and Risk and Operations felt the need to start HRD Academy in Gurgaon during his interaction with various HR heads. “They all did not want to hire freshers in HR roles, as they felt the jobs required those who had acquired training on the practical aspects of HR like talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, HR business partnerships and so on. Accordingly, we devised the Apprenticeship Programme, where those who have completed an MBA in HR and have no work experience could undergo on-the-job training,” says Khurana. This is a nine-month programme, where three months of the training is followed by six months of full-time work. After the successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, students get placed in HR departments of large corporates, he says. Students are given a 100 per cent placement guarantee, emphasis Khurana.

There is no fee to join the apprenticeship programme and candidates are given a stipend of `10,000 a month when they intern with corporates. “Students are made to undergo detailed training programmes on various facets of HR,” says Khurana who leads the training team. They also have guest lectures on a fortnightly basis, as they believe that the interactions students get with prospective employers would do them a lot of good, both professionally and personally.

HRD Academy is not all about training. As part of their business, they undertake HR consulting projects, behavioural assessments and training need analysis for corporates. “We have also helped several of our large corporate clients like Bharti Infratel, Oxigen and others develop their Employee Value Proposition (EVP) Strategy,” quips Khurana.

The HRD Academy also focuses on behavioural and leadership training programmes for corporate clients. “In February next year, we are coming up with the India HR Summit, which is planned as an annual event thereon,” informs Khurana. Application form is available on the website and the basic eligibility criteria is that you are an MBA HR fresher. Details at www.hrdacademy.in.
