Seshadripuram College trains its students to reach great heights, while instilling in them a sense of duty towards society

Seshadripuram College, Bangalore was  founded in 1973 by the Seshadripouuram Education Trust(SET). Since then, the college has carved a niche for itself among the premier educational institutions of Bangalore and has been awarded the highest grade ‘A’ in the NAAC re-accreditation process. Its students regularly feature amongst the rank holders of Bangalore university. It has also been featured among the top ten colleges of the city in ‘India Today’ rankings. In the four decades of its existence, it has grown from a meagre strength of thirty students at inception, to 2,200 students with a commensurate expansion of the faculty as well.

The institution is unique in that it provides quality education at affordable cost to its students. It nurtures traditional values and a strong sense of social responsibility among its students and at the same time, develops professionalism and makes them industry-ready. It has a unique and sustained training programme for campus recruitments.

Seshadripuram College is proud of its exceptionally good placements, with the best companies picking up a good number of students every year. As many as 60 companies visited the college in the academic year 2014-15 with 24 students being offered pay packages exceeding `3lakh per annum.”The success is not only to due to the excellent quality of our students but also because of the systematic and sustained training programme for campus recruitments, which is spread across six semesters. We have a full-fledged training and placement cell,” says Anuradha Roy, Principal, Seshadripuram College.

The college offers three undergraduate programmes in Commerce, Business Management, and Computer Science and one postgraduation programme in Commerce. Extra-curricular activities involve a healthy mix of academics and recreation.

While the college has a Centre for Gandhian Studies and a Centre for Vivekananda Studies, it also has an Eco Club that undertakes eco-friendly activities and advocacy initiatives. “Each department in the college has its own annual fest and programmes,” says Roy. The annual college day is celebrated under the banners ‘Tarang’ and Kala Sinchana. They also celebrate ethnic day once a year as ‘Desi Habba’.

The college has devised a unique way to keep students connected to the college library. It has introduced the concept of a ‘book-kit’. Freshman students are provided a set of books that they would require for their semester. Once that semester is over, the students return the kit and borrow another one for the subsequent semester.

Seshadripuram College has its own entrepreneurship cell, internal quality assurance cell and other systems in place.

The college uses the attendance and course tracking system, a virtual mechanism of monitoring a student’s attendance and the completion of portions by teachers. “Our NSS officer Prathap Lingaiah won State award for Best NSS Officer 2013 and Indira Gandhi National Award for Best NSS Officer 2014 by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. The College Youth Red Cross unit has been awarded for highest blood donation in the State,” Roy adds.

Seshadripuram College has tie-ups and MoUs with foreign universities like Institute of Further and Higher Education, University of Chester, and Institute of Productivity, UK.

“It is my privilege to be an alumnus as well as a professor and HOD of the Commerce and Management department and also an  NCC officer for years. I have seen the institution grow to its present stature, imparting quality education without compromising on its values and commitment to maintaining high standards,” says KY Mohan Kumar, HoD, Department of Commerce.
