It is depressing to see the number of students ending their lives or attempting to take their lives because of exams.

Exams and results are not the end of the road. It is depressing to see the number of students ending their lives or attempting to take their lives because of low performance in exams.

Exams and results are in tandem and they are just part of the academic routine. The exam results in this county creates a furore in the minds of the students. They are practically directed by the results. The students with low scores are devastated and because of extreme pressure they start loosing faith.

This exam fear is instilled in the minds of the students by the academic system followed by the parents and societal pressure. This especially affects the students, who have a low academic performance. They start believing they are useless and cannot perform again. The built up low morale sentiment induces low self esteem and the likelihood of taking one’s life becomes very predominant in the students mind and so they take the adverse step.

Sometimes they get mentally depressed and it  takes  many months of rehabilitation to get them back to feel good about themselves   The point to note is students should not be affected by exams as marks are not the determining factor of intelligence or knowledge level.

Fortunately, all of us have the opportunity to appear for the exams. There is a fair possibility of reappearing and competing the exams. Marks determine which college you might get admitted into or what course you want to do.

I would appeal to all the students to take these exams in  your stride and deal with certain failures as just small road blocks, which we need to clear by applying  more strength and hard work. It is not the attempts but our attitude which is important to clear the exam.
