Step into the Jumping Goose office in Bangalore and you’ll know why none of their employees want to ever leave. Decorated in a wide array of colours, there are paintings, sketches and sculptures just jumping off the walls at you. From the pen stand to the tables, everything has a unique creative design. Like the name suggests, Jumping Goose is a very youthful, modern startup. And like a flock of geese that fly together, each member takes up leadership when needed. “There is no hierarchy here, and the last thing we want is for politics to creep in. There’s no in or out time. People just come in and go as they please. But there’s an immense amount of brainstorming ideas,” says Piyush Bhandari, co-founder. Sounds like a dream job, doesn’t it?
A Design Consultation and Implementation Agency started in 2011 by Piyush and his partner Tuhin Roy, they’ve been making waves in recent times. The duo had earlier worked together in Madhura garments and had the same background. But there were a lot of things they didn’t like about working in a design agency. So in 2010, when Tuhin lost his job, followed by Piyush the next year, it was an open door for them to test new waters. “We believe Design has to be free. When you work in an agency, the way you perceive things gets restricted. A lot of creative ideas are stopped because of brand identity. What we have tried to do is create a counter culture, where creativity is given enough room,” says Piyush. The agency works on four main verticals – Fashion and Lifestyle, Brand Identity, Retail and Office, and Communication. “We were initially skeptical about how it would be welcomed. But we soon realised that delivering quality products with speed is all what buyers are looking for. What’s more, we sell it at one tenth the price of Italian agencies, probably our only competitors.”
