Give Me 28 MPs And I Will Protect You, Modi Tells Karnataka Voters

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi addressed rallies in Mysore and Koppal where he continued his vitriolic attacks on the Congress for rampant corruption and underdevelopment of the country.

Addressing a rally at the Maharaja’s College Grounds in Mysore on Tuesday, he appealed to people to give him 28 MPs from the state and he will be like a chowkidar protecting their interest. He said: “Corruption is in the DNA of Congress and the party should be stopped from further looting the country. Leaders have changed, speeches have changed but corruption continues to thrive.”

He said though the election is yet to be completed, it is certain that people will not bring the Congress and its allies to power. Voters will give a decisive mandate in favour of BJP as the Congress has failed to keep up its promise made in the 2004 and 2009 polls, he said.

Modi said by rooting out the Congress this time, people will fulfil the dream of Mahatma Gandhi who wished to dissolve the party after the freedom struggle.

In Koppal, Modi said: “The people of India and not the BJP appears to be fighting the 2014 elections against the 10-year-old corrupt UPA government,” he said.  He said the Union government failed to bring any change in the life of the common man, particularly farmers and youths.

Referring to Lal Bahadur Shastri’s slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan,’ he said the present scenario seems to be ‘Die Jawan, Die Kissan’ because of the inefficient and corrupt UPA government.

The Right to Information Act continues to be tooth-less. Though people want to bring back black money stashed abroad, the UPA government proved to be a barrier as the money belonged to corrupt politicians, he said.
