Nomination Process for Fifth Phase of Polls in UP From Saturday

The nomination process for the fifth phase of polls in Uttar Pradesh would start tomorrow with issuance of notification, an Election Commission official said today.

This crucial phase will cover 15 constituencies, including Rahul Gandhi's Amethi, BJP leader Varun Gandhi's Sultanpur, Beni Prasad Verma's Gonda besides other seats, Uttar Pradesh Chief Election Officer Umesh Sinha here said.

The other constituencies are Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Phulpur, Allahabad, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Kaiserganj, Shravasti, Gonda, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Gonda, where nominations will start from tomorrow.

"The nominations for these 15 constituencies will continue till April 19 while April 23 is the last date for nominations," he said.

He said that 2.53 crore voters, including 1.14 crore women, will exercise their franchise for this phase on May 7.
