It was alliterations galore in the final phase of electioneering for the Lok Sabha Polls in Tamil Nadu with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa leading the bandwagon.

Taking potshots at BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and detailing how her state fared better in social parameters than Gujarat at an election rally here on April 21, a day before close of campaigning, the AIADMK supremo asked the raucous crowd "tell me who is the best administrator? Gujarat Modiya or Tamil Nadu's intha ladiyaa (Gujarat's Modi or the lady from Tamil Nadu)."

Not to be outdone, DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin shot back:"It is neither Modi nor the lady, but my daddy (who brought development to Tamil Nadu),he said at an election rally at Pudukottai yesterday, drawing loud cheers from the party cadre.

Stalin also did a bit of mimicry, making the sound of a helicopter to drive home the message of Jayalalithaa using a chopper for campaigning and her 'Seiveergala, seiveergala?' (will you do, will you do it) appeal to voters.

"Neenga senjingala, senjingala? (Have you done it?), he asked to roars of approval from the crowd, attacking Jayalalithaa that she has failed to fullfill her party's poll promises like solving power shortage even three years after assuming office.

Elsewhere, BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu joined the issue, saying "lady Jayalalithaa is better suited to administer Tamil Nadu that?s why people have voted her to power. Narendra Modi is suited to administer the country."

Enlivening proceedings for the BJP cadre, Modi, on his whirlwind campaign, while attacking the Congress on corruption, took a jibe at Finance Minister P Chidambaram, without taking his name, addressing him as "recounting minister", alluding to the manner in which the latter won in the Sivaganga seat in the previous polls by a thin margin.

Not taking it lying down, Chidambaram retorted calling him a "compulsive liar" and an "encounter Chief Minister".

Wearing dark shades at dusk, actor-turned-politician and founder of the DMDK, ally of BJP-led NDA, also had the crowd in splits, quizzing them on who should be PM, the party symbol and MP?s name to enable Modi to become prime minister and help them go to Modi with all 40 seats.
