BJP netas left red-faced over Nizamabad squabble

BJP leaders of Nizamabad Urban constituency seem to have got on the nerves of party high command.

NIZAMABAD: BJP leaders of Nizamabad Urban constituency seem to have got on the nerves of party high command. For, they have been squabbling unabated ever since Yendala Laxminarayana was announced as the party candidate. This infuriated aspirant Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, who earlier went along with his loyalists to the party office and damaged furniture.

The unending infighting has left saffron leaders red-faced. While Yendala Laxminarayana contested as an MP candidate in 2014 and Dhanpal contested the MLA election, things seem to have taken a turn now. Sources say the senior leadership took the decision considering the contributions made by Yendala to the party.  He has played an active role in the Telangana movement and has a sound track record of “being committed to party decisions,” say sources. Dhanpal, on the other hand, argued that he was the one who strengthened the party in the area.

A source in the party claims that seeing all this work that Dhanpal was doing, State party leaders encouraged him and increased his aspirations of being the BJP contestant from Nizamabad Urban. “The party leadership, however, seems to have taken a decision without consulting with local leaders,” the source claimed.   Some leaders even recalled that a majority of State election committee members were in favour of Dhanpal being given the ticket, barring two BC leaders who favoured Yendala.
They suggested a possible “caste equation” at play while deciding the candidates.
