Rajesh , the director of ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ , speaks to Expresso on his new outing 'Boss Engira Baskaran', the cast and his new flick with Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Through ‘Siva Manasula Shakthi' (SMS), Rajesh proved that he is not only capable of directing but also handling humour. His next venture with Arya and Nayantara in the lead roles, ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ is a romantic comedy.

Talking about his film, Rajesh says, “Arya played a cameo role in SMS. Soon after that, I decided that I will have to work on a full-length comedy film with Arya in the lead. Arya has not done humour- oriented films and this film will be a good chance for him to flaunt off that humorous facet of his.

Arya plays the role of Baskaran and the film deals with the love episode of the character.

Rajesh adds, “The film will be a complete family entertainer. The chemistry between Arya and Nayantara is sizzling and I am pretty sure the audience will enjoy watching them work their magic on screen. Also, comedian Santhanam will be much talked about, once the movie releases. Yuvan Shankar Raja has conjured about five songs for this movie and they will surely become a rage,” informs the director.

A big set was erected at Binny Mills, Meenambakkam recently for a final song shoot.

“The shooting of the last song commemorated the winding up of the shoot. The last day of the shoot was very memorable as the crew celebrated by cutting a cake. Arya and Nayantara pair up for the first time in this film. Nayantara was very professional. She was on time for the shoot and she has done a homely role in this film, like that of her character in ‘Yaaradi Ne Mohini’. She sports a girl-next-door look in the film,” says director Rajesh.

He continues, “Red Giant Movies’ Udhayanidhi Stalin will release the movie and we are planning on having a grand audio launch by the end of this month.”

Udhyanidhi is my next hero

Meanwhile, the director has confirmed that he is working on a script for Udhayanidhi Stalin. “I’m working on the script and it is a love story,” reveals Rajesh and adds, “Udhayanidhi Stalin has the charm to attract the younger generation. He is working out and is going for dance classes. I have always wanted to work on a movie, dealing with romance, with Udhayanidhi in it. When I told him about the film, he gladly agreed to work on it. After the release of ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’, we will start working on the script.”
