Brightly coloured ethnic weaves were everywhere you turned, and not just on the mannequins. at the launch of Woman’s World at Express Avenue on Saturday. Launching the flagship store of the brand in Chennai with style, participants from the store’s kick-off pageant — Face of Miss and Mrs Women’s World sat pretty in their desi best. And the cream on the pallu was the arrival of brand ambassador Parvathy Omanakuttan — wearing a WW creation — straight off one of her posters on the store walls.
“I always get a warm welcome every time I come to Chennai,” she said with a warm smile. And after a quick glimpse at the saris, the actor went on to present the winners of the pageant with their massive `1 lakh WW gift vouchers (enough to keep husbands happy till the end of the year) and sparkly tiaras to match.
Fashion choreographer and judge Karun Raman said, “We had 500 entries from varying age groups that we shortlisted down to 20 before we picked our winners, so it was a tough decision.”
The 12,500 sq ft space will host a wide range of ghagras, salwars, dress materials, kanchivarams, western and kids wear, and of course an elegant range of saris, said V Rajendra Kumar, chief managing director, Woman’s World. Also present at the occasion was Nalli Kuppaswami Chetty.
