LOS ANGELES: The Weinstein Company has been sued once again, this time for allegedly ripping off the work of author Jay Anson.

The widow of the author, who wrote the famous "The Amityville Horror", argued that the company made a sequel of the franchise by ripping off her dead husband's work, reported TMZ.

TWC's backed "Amityville: The Awakening" released recently, starring Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jennifer Morrison and Cameron Monaghan.

The film was directed by Franck Khalfoun from his own script and was panned by the critics after its release.

According to another report, the movie has raked in just 742 dollars since its release.

Lesia Anson says the movie has been derived out of her husband's novel and 1979 film, which was written by him.

Calling the movie "a cinematic mess", Lesia says the embattled studio never approached her for the rights or for permission.
