Bollywood actress Zarine Khan’s recently appendicitis operation seems to have turned into a cause for concern for directors working with her.
While reports from Bollywood suggest that the cast of Housefull 2 (one of her projects) “immediately agreed to accommodate the changes in schedule until Zarine became normal,” LI Kannan, director of the Vikram-starrer Karikalan, in which she plays a prominent role, is not even aware of her operation.
“I don’t know this. I wasn’t informed about her surgery,” said the director when contacted and added, “She is supposed to be a part of the third schedule of Karikalan that starts from November 14.”
Zarine Khan was taken to a hospital when she reported severe abdominal pain while shooting for Housefull 2. In Karikalan, Zarine plays one of the three female leads, while Ratha Charithra-fame Radhika Apte and Kaavalan-fame Mithra Kurian play the other two heroines.
Karikalan is the directorial venture of LI Kannan, who has already worked as an animator and special effects designer for movies like Ghajini, Anniyan, Sivaji and Endhiran.
According to the director, Karikalan is a period fantasy film that heralds the life and times of one of the greatest Chola kings, Karikalan. While he doesn’t want to reveal about Zarine’s character, he says that he found Zarine Khan perfect for the role. “I have shot very few portions of her so far and she has to shoot for about 40 more days,” said Kannan.
Karikalan was originally scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2012. But now, with Zarine Khan needing rest for at least a month, Karikalan’s director might not have any other option but wait.
