Word deleted from song in movie

Timely intervention by the district administration in instructing the theatre owners to delete a word from a dance in a movie averted a possible clash on Friday.

People of a particular community objected to a word in an item number in the movie “Once upon a time in Mumbai Dobara” and submitted a memorandum to the Gulbarga Deputy Commissioner here.

They requested him in the memorandum to direct Shetty Film Junction and Mukta Theatre owners to delete, what they felt was an objectionable word.

They also said that if the word was not deleted immediately, they would launch an agitation by Friday afternoon. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Superintendent of Police to take action on the matter. Police protection was immediately given to all important places, including temples, and the SP directed the theatre owners to delete the word.

Once the word was deleted from the song, the people of the particular community withdrew their plan of launching the agitation, sources said.
