Thespian Rakhi Sawant on Thursday expressed her grief over the arrest of playback singer Mika Singh and conveyed her solidarity with him for slapping a doctor at a concert in the national capital.

'I am very shocked and sad that Mika has been arrested, I think whatever Mika did was absolutely correct. He did the right thing by slapping the doctor. When we were in Malaysia, I had asked Mika about the incident. He told me that the doctor was irritating all the female artists', Sawant told ANI.

'The doctor was totally drunk. The doctor wanted to get a photo clicked with Mika, he was misbehaving with everyone at the back stage. The doctor pushed the bodyguards and came to the stage', she added.

Sawant also cast aspersionson the doctor’s character, claiming that ‘looked like a terrorist’ and could have been a human bomb, alleging that he filed a complaint against Mika for publicity.

'If he would have been a fan, he would have waited for the performance to get over and would have met Mika backstage. The doctor has gone to the police just for publicity,' she said.

Earlier in the day, Mika was arrested by the Delhi Police for assaulting a doctor during a live concert in Delhi. The ‘Mauja hi Mauja’ singer had slapped the doctor on stage in full public view and the video of his assault had been widely circulated.

His act had led the Indian Medical Association to call for his arrest.
