MUMBAI —Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut came together to launch the trailer of their upcoming release “Katti Batti” June 14 with producer Siddharth Roy Kapur and director Nikhil Advani. The buzz about the film, which revolves around a couple in a live-in relationship and their journey, has been creating quite a stir.

Ranaut managed to keep the mystery about its narrative and her character alive, saying, “It is a love story, which might not end up like a love story. The way this film unfolds — it is non-linear — it is really hard to give an idea of what’s it’s actually about, and especially about my character.”

Khan plays architect Madhav Kabra while Ranaut plays the bohemian Payal.

“It’s not about pregnancy or even a double role as rumored. I don’t play a Punjabi girl, I don’t play a NRI, nor do I get bored in the film,” Ranaut said. “There is no genre to the movie. The beauty of the film is that it is very intriguing. Revealing too much right now will take away fun, and we really don’t want to take that away.”

The prize quote also went to her when she was asked who she thought is the “Queen of Bollywood.” With deep sarcasm she shot back, “Is Bollywood a country? It is a very lame question.”

After the launch, the team had a wrap-up party June 14 at the Nido. Music composers Ehsaan and Loy joined them along with Khan’s wife Avantika.

Ranaut and Khan were seen enjoying themselves at the bash, with Ranaut at one point planting a kiss on Khan’s cheek after which the actor promptly flashed a “thumbs-up” sign to the cameramen present.

The film is set to release Sep. 18.
