When Alia Got Competitive

After the dance epic London thumakda in Queen, director Vikas Bahl has another foot-tapping number in his forthcoming film, Shaandaar.  The song Gulabo has Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor dancing their hearts out alongside Shahid’s sister Sanah. But much as they complement each other, there was also a sense of competition between the two stars.

Alia candidly admits to being nervous at the thought of matching steps with an acknowledged dancer like Shahid. She says, “Gulaabo was the first ever  song that we danced together to. I was damn nervous because I was dancing with Shahid. Even with just 10 per cent of his dancing skills, he looks great on stage. So, I had to match up to him.”

She says, “I have to say Shahid also helped me a lot. Bosco (the choreographer) used to say that I have penguin feet. At one stage, I even burst out crying. I worked very hard.”

Shahid narrates, “I thought Alia and I had become pretty close friends and so we would spend time together, like go to the coffee shop. Every day we used to hang out after shooting but suddenly one day when I messaged her ‘Alia watsup, I am feeling bored’ I got no response! Later I found out she had sneaked away to rehearse for Gulabo. She used to go without telling me because she had this big keeda of wanting to be better.”
