Celebrating Life

Vivek Oberoi, who turned 39 on September 3, celebrated his birthday in the same manner as the last 13 years – with children from Cancer Patients Aid Association.

The actor said emotionally, “It is the coolest way to party. People celebrate their birthdays in a lavish style at fancy hotels, but this is my favourite celebration. Every year, it is great motivation to see these kids survive cancer. It has truly made my birthday special.”

Last seen as the antagonist in Krrish 3, Vivek was the picture of bonhomie as he danced with the kids and clicked pictures with them. He also kept a screening of Welcome Back for the kids at a theatre.

Holding a two-year old in his arms, Vivek revealed, “This small kid (Arham) in my hand has cancer in his stomach and has recently undergone surgery. This girl Sara, is a live example how I receive positivity from them. While shooting for my film Saathiya (2002), I was called by CPAA to visit a kid who had cancer and today she has survived and grown into a beautiful 12-year-old girl. I took the decision to help her and I am proud of her. She recently went on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa too.”

Currently busy with Indra Kumar’s Great Grand Masti and Yash Raj’s Bank Chor, Vivek concludes, “I don’t live day to day, I live miracle to miracle. These kids pray for me and they bring magic to my life.”
