From being a British model to a Bollywood actress, Amy Jackson has come a long way. Despite starring in duds like I with Vikram in Tamil, and Ek Tha Deewana with Prateik Babbar, she has bagged a plum role in Bollywood. She plays Akshay Kumar’s leading lady in Singh is Bliing.
Kriti Sanon was the first choice for your role in Singh is Bliing. Does that bother you?
Not at all. Kriti is a fantastic actor. It didn’t happen for Kriti and thankfully, it worked out for me — that’s just a part and parcel of films.
What was your first reaction when you were told that you have been cast opposite Akshay?
I had to actually pinch myself when I got the call! I couldn’t believe it and right till the last day of shooting, I was like ‘Am I actually working with Akshay Kumar!” I have been a massive Akshay Kumar fan before and the first film that I ever watched was Namastey London (2007). I didn’t think that I would get the chance to act with him and especially so early in my career.
How would you define Akshay Kumar?
You can’t define Akshay Kumar. He’s the action king of Bollywood and as a person I have learnt a lot from him. He is an inspiration. Akshay is always helping us all keep fit. In fact, he helped Ratiji (Agnihotri) lose around nine kilos…he had given her a diet and now after losing weight, she looks great.
We rarely see actresses doing stunts. Do you think your action sequences will start a trend?
In this film there is lot of action, the kind of which I have never seen before in Bollywood yet. I love doing action and yes, I would like to set a trend.
