Sorry Priyanka, You're Not the First Indian to Present an Oscar

While many of us are under the impression that our very own Pee Cee is the first Indian to be one of the presenters at the 88th Academy Awards, Star Trek fame Persis Khambatta made India proud at the Oscars in 1980.

Born in a middle-class Parsi home, the 1965 Miss India winner, grabbed attention through photos clicked by a renown Mumbai-based photgrapher.

Later, Persis Khambatta met with a serious car crash in Germany which left a notable scar on her forehead and underwent surgery following which returned to India in 1985.

Khambatta featured in a few Hindi serials and guest roles in many series like Mike Hammer.

It is also notable that she wrote and published a coffee table book, titled 'Pride of India' which featured several former Miss India winners.

Persis last acted in the role of Chair of the Congress of Nations in the 1993 pilot episode of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
