NEW DELHI: The Delhi government today decided to give entertainment tax exemption to the movie 'Anna: Kisan Baburao Hazare', which is based on the life of social activist Anna Hazare.

The movie, directed by Shashank Udapurkar, was released in theaters across the country today.

"In a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the government today decided in-principal to make tax-free 'Anna: Kisan Baburao Hazare' movie in Delhi," a senior government official said.

He said the entertainment department will soon release a notification in this regard.

Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and several other AAP leaders, who had participated in Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement in 2011, later formed Aam Aadmi Party.

Kejriwal and Hazare parted ways in 2012 after the party was launched.
