Samosas and jalebis are killers: Rohit Roy

Fitness for me is a lifestyle.

Rohit Roy, who was seen in Kaabil recently, is a very dedicated gym enthusiast who began his quest for fitness late in his 30s but more than made up for lost time.

Fitness for me is  a lifestyle, it's not something I do for my work and give up when my film ends. It’s a
continuous process for the health of my body and mind. I cheat on my diet once in a while but that’s important so that your body doesn’t crave

My fitness regimen
I keep it simple. My body is not created in the gym, it’s built in the kitchen. I eat good protein with every meal and eat 4-6 small portions in a day. I work out 5-6 times in a week and try and follow basic exercises. The good old bench press squats, barbell rows shoulder presses, dumbbell curls etc. I also run seven days a week, it helps me to loose fat and sleep well at night. Sleep is important for fitness, your body recuperates as you sleep and mind becomes calmer.

My supplements include:
One protein shake a day is a must. I take an Omega 3,6 and 9 and a basic multivitamin like Centrum. I don't believe in supplementation at all, get what your body needs from your everyday food, it’s way better.

The body part I love training:
My back, I feel it gives me better posture and stance and I also seem to walk better.

The body part I hate training:
Ha ha ha, that’s common to all Indian men – legs. According to me the second most important body part after the back is the leg.

I started working out at the age:
Oh honestly only very recently, I wasn't very inclined to fitness earlier.

My first  workout was and the first gym I went to:

Tallwalkars I will never forget that gym. My first workout was probably bicep curls.

I was  inspired to workout by:
Brad Pitt, I saw him in Fight Club and liked his stance. He is it not buff and big but he looks  strong.

Currently the gym I go to:
Inch By Inch, Versova.

The best gym I have been to:
One in Los Angeles last year, it was incredible.

My personal trainer:
I have had several over the years, but Christina remains my favourite.

I like to work out with:
Anybody who is serious and doesn’t yak over the phone while training, I find that extremely irritating.

The Bollywood actor with the fittest body:
Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, both have very different body types but both look absolutely fabulous.

On the days I don't work out I feel: Guilty.

My opinion on the use of steroids:
I don’t believe in using them.

My daily diet: It's simple – roti, sabzi, dal, eggs simple Indian meals, one or two scoops of protein powders, chicken and fish once in a while, lots of green tea through out the day. A piece of dark chocolate for sure, it makes me smile. I avoid all kinds of deep fried foods, sugar heavy foods, for e.g., samosas and jalebis, these two are the biggest killers, trust me.
