Actor Akshay Kumar donates Rs 1.08 crore to families of jawans killed in Sukma attack

The CRPF took to their Twitter handle to thank the 49-year-old Bollywood star for his noble act.

NEW DELHI: He is not just a poster boy of patriotism, Akshay Kumar has shown his deep respect for the Armed Forces. This time, continuing his support, he donated Rs 1.08 crore to the families of those jawans killed in the Sukma attack.

The Khiladi of Bollywod, who has done the maximum number of movies around patriotism, donated Rs 9 lakh each to the families of the 12 soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who were killed during an encounter with the Naxalites on March 11 in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

The CRPF took to their Twitter handle to thank the 49-year-old 'Airlift' star and wrote, "Akshay Kumar actor a true Patriot stnds with bereaved families of 12 #ShaheedsOfSukma & donates 09 Lac each. CRPF salutes noble gesture.”

The ambush took place near Kottacheru village under Bhejji police station, around 500 km from the state capital, when 112 personnel of the CRPF's 219th battalion were on a road opening duty.
