Simhadri, directed by Shivamani, is Soundarya Jayamala's second release this year and her third outing overall. The actress hopes to make waves with her ultra glamorous looks in the film that are currently creating a buzz in the industry.
"The glam factor is seen only in one song. Apart from that, I play a very simple role that is similar to that of actress Manjula in Sampathige Saval," she explains.
Being the daughter of actress-turned-politician Dr Jayamala, acting comes easy to Soundarya, who says, "I have improved with each film and in Simhadri, Shivamani has done a fabulous job molding me. He helped me get better at ease in front of the camera. I am an actress who completely depends on the director's guidance and I learnt lots on the sets of Simhadri," she says.
Having only three films to her credit doesn't set her back, feels Soundarya. "I made the decision of being seen in fewer films. It is my choice and nobody else's. I come from a family good artistes and being in limelight constantly has never excited me. I take up projects only when I am enthusiastic about my role," she says.
However, she admits that being Jayamala's daughter, she has always felt the pressure to perform better.
"The directors that I have worked with always had my mother's standards in mind while filming me. When I made a mistake while shooting for Simhadri, Shivamani got upset and said being Jayamala's daughter, I can't screw up on screen. I know they mean well, but I feel overwhelmed sometimes," she explains.
Despite coming from an influential family, Soundarya's relationship with the industry folks remains professional. "I prefer hanging out with friends outside the industry. They are excited to have a star in their group and it is fun. However, actress Rishika Singh is also a good friend of mine," she says.
Soundarya tells us that she hopes to be an entrepreneur alongside her acting career. "Unlike other actors, cinema is not the only option for me, and I want to start something on my own too. I am coming up with a line of beauty products. I plan to start off my product sale in Goa this season. The lip balm from my line is chemical free and I have come up with crazy flavours like Jack Daniels and Red Velvet. I wish to start a spa in Bangalore soon," she signs off.
