Popular actress Nikita Thukral’s last film in Kannada was Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna. After a two-year hiatus, she is back in Sandalwood with Software Ganda, which is now ready for release.
Despite not being in the film circuit for a while, the actress has managed to be in the news, thanks to her stint in Bigg Boss Season 1. Considering it a part and parcel of being in the industry, Nikita says, “Taking a break from movies was a choice that I made. After a certain point in life, you realise that you need to spend time with your family too. However, the media did not leave me alone.”
Nikita regrets missing the opportunity to star in Vaastu Prakara as she was in the US when she got the offer. However, she feels refreshed after the break and is confident about picking the right movies.
“I guess I am more mature now. Apart from Software Ganda, I have Ring Road Shubha and Avunu II in Telugu. I have also completed shooting for my first Hindi film, Traffic. I guess four films in a year is brilliant,” she says.
The actress says she doesn’t feel out of touch with the audience as she has been active on Twitter. “Only the media was worried about my whereabouts, not my fans. The number of followers on my Twitter page kept increasing all this time. My fans are aware of what I am up to on a daily basis,” she says.
About the rumours of her working with Ajay Devgn in an upcoming Hindi film, Nikita says, “It is not true. In the film that I recently finished, I am paired with Vishal, a newbie who is being launched in this film. Apart from him, there is Jimmy Shergill and Divya Dutta in the movie.”
Currently, Nikita is waiting for the release of her films. But she does tell us this. “I am working on my looks and keeping a check on my weight as I am trying to make it big in Bollywood.” To which, she adds a moment later, “That’s why I spend more time in Mumbai attending auditions.”
“There was a time when I only acted in commercial films, but now I can say that I have played roles that show my skills. In Software Ganda and Ring Road Shubha, my characters have a lot of responsibilities,” says Nikita, who is confident about her space in the industry. “As an artist, you have to grow. When you’re gone, your fans should miss you,” she says.
