After Daisy Boppanna, Nidhi Subbaiah, Harshika Poonacha, the newest arrival from Coorg is actress Krishi Thapanda. The doe-eyed lass has been roped in for Rajavardan’s upcoming film, Amara Chitra Katha. Krishi started her career with a Tamil film titled Nae and this is her third film in a row in Kannada. The other two projects she has bagged include Kahi and Akira. According to the newbie, she got all the four films only through reference. Krishi says, “I have completed my shoot for my Tamil film and the post-production is in progress and am expecting the release in a month’s time. When I was in the last stages of shooting for Nae, I got an offer of a Kannada film. My first film here is Kahi which I have completed and am expecting to release by June end. Right now I am shooting for Akira and it was during this that I also got an offer from the Amara Chitra Katha team. The film will go on floors from April 24,” Krishi says.

The actress who is a classical dancer is particularly happy that she has been selected based on her talent. “I was working for an MNC, nine months ago and I was pushed by one of my friends to take part in a beauty pageant. I participated and I got shortlisted in the South India Queen 2014 and I won Miss Karnataka. My next step was to attend an audition for a Tamil film and I was selected. Though that particular film did not happen, I was referred to another director and called to Chennai for Nae. I am also glad that I have varied roles in all my three Kannada films,” she says. Talking of Amara Chitra Katha, Krishi says, “I am playing Chitra, a character who has a positive approach towards life whereas Amara, the role played by Rajavardan is quite negative and my character acts as a foil to him,” she says.
