Naina is Destiny's Favourite Child

Naina Sarwar is a blessed soul. It does not happen very often that an admirer on social media recommends a naive, 20-year-old to a filmmaker and the suggestion materialises into a concrete film offer. But that is exactly what happened to her when her name was suggested to the makers of Kannada film, Bettanagere.

“I signed my first project within 24 hours of meeting the team and still do not know how they got my contact and what made them choose me,” says Naina.

The film is based on the real life story of notorious rowdies Seena and Shankara and going by the films in her kitty, it seems that she prefers realistic films. Apart from Bettanagere, she has completed two projects.  Kolara directed by Arya Mahesh stars Loose Mada Yogi and is based on the life of another rowdy, Thangam.

Ooty, starring Avinash and directed by Mahesh Kumar, is about the Cauvery riots. Naina has now signed on Hey Ram that stars Srinagar Kitty. This is her second film with director Arya Mahesh which revolves around the Ram Mandir issue. “I am yet to get used to the idea of  a love story. Though, all my films are based on real subjects, I have varied shades in each film,” she says.

But while she could easily be termed as Sandalwood’s busiest actress, she rues the fact that her passionate pursuit has come at the cost of her studies. “After bagging my first film, I did manage college and acting but slowly everything went for a toss. I am still irregular with my classes and always regular on the sets. But I will manage to complete my graduation,” says Naina. The actress has also got her first break in Tamil in the film Kolongi with Samuthirakani.
