Deeksha Seth for Jaggu Dada

A well-known face in Telugu industry, the actress makes her entry in Sandalwood with Raghavendra Hegde’s debut in which she plays the lead opposite Darshan

Director Raghavendra Hegde’s search for the leading lady of his directorial debut, Jaggu Dada, has finally ended after months of screening profiles. He has chosen Deeksha Seth and luckily for him, the busy actress of Telugu and Tamil cinema has been able to accommodate his entire schedule.

“I was keen on a talented actress with a pretty face. Deeksha fit the bill as her looks have certain Indianness while also reflecting a Western charm. She also matches Darshan’s height. More importantly, Deeksha has committed herself to our project  by giving us complete dates,” says Raghavendra. A Femina Miss India finalist in 2009, Deeksha entered tinsel town with Telugu film Vedam. The model-turned-actress later established herself in Tollywood with films like Mirapakaay, Nippu and Rebel. Deeksha is also a familiar face in Tamil industry and has even made her foray in Bollywood with the film, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil.

The actress is equally excited to be a part of Jaggu Dada. She says, “While I was establishing myself in the Telugu industry, I did get a few offers from Kannada films which I couldn’t accept because it was a date clash or I was not keen on the subject. However, when Raghu (Raghavendra Hegde) approached me with Jaggu Dada, I felt that I had finally got a film that I believe in. Even though, this is Raghu’s debut, he comes across as a person, who is passionate about his work. Secondly, this film also helps me to experiment with a comedy for the first time. I found the premise  very funny when I read the lines from the film’s script.”

Meanwhile, Deeksha has signed her second Hindi film, the details of which she will divulge a little later. “I will have more clarity to talk about my next once I start shooting for it in a couple of months after I complete my Kannada film,” she says.

The director will soon be finalising another actress, who plays an important role in the film before they begin to roll the project from August 19 in Mumbai.

Southern actress Urvashi, Raj Singh Bedi, Ravi Shankar, Sharath Lohitashwa and Bullet Prakash among others are also a part of the film.
