Vijay Raghavendra, who is usually seen playing lovable characters in family-oriented movies, is for the first time set to play a character with negative shades in Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya to be helmed by debutant Viraj.
The film's muhurath was on Friday and the clap board was sounded by Vinay Rajkumar. Viraz excited about Vijay Raghavendra's new identity in Dharmasya said, "The film, which deals with an underworld subject, sees Vijay playing a negative role, but for the common, he is a saviour. The actor is going in for a image makeover for the character and he will be wearing blue lens, which Vijay told me will be first time in his career. Vijay has already started working on his physique and he might develop a six pack ab for the climax shot," he says.
Viraj explains as to why did he chose Vijay Raghavendra to play this character. "He is a versatile actor but sadly, like every other actor, he has also been boxed into a particular genre. As an artiste, he has all the qualities, which as a director, we should try and bring out," says the first timer, who is also written the story, screenplay and dialogue. "This is a commercial subject and not based on any real life incident," he clarifies.
The film will go on floors from April 25 and will be shot in Bengaluru, Madikeri and Goa, among other places.
The director doesn't feel that that the debut on a dark subject carries more responsility. "Action-Cut are regular words for us, in movies. I believe that we have to try something unique in our films. My film deals with an underworld, but I will not show machettes.
The film will mostly deal with guns," he says. The film is made under Akshara Production with Shravya of Rose fame playing the female lead. Ravi Shankar, Sadhu Kokila Sudha Belavadi, Kempe Gowda are also part of the star cast.
